About John Gibbons

Mr. Gibbons has music degrees from the Peabody Institute of Music, the University of Minnesota and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. He has taught piano and theory since 1994. He also teaches music history and appreciation at the University of Chicago's Graham School and the Newberry Library.

Mr. Gibbons has also lectured for numerous organizations including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Chicago Opera Theater. Mr. Gibbons has lectured for private organizations such as the Lyric Opera Evanston Chapter and Career Builder.

Mr. Gibbons has received numerous awards including the Otto Ortmann Award in Composition, and the Excellence in Teaching award from the University of Chicago's Graham School (Liberal Arts Division).
